Five Mistakes On Your Next Interview

You just had an interview and you are waiting for a response, but no one is calling you back. What went wrong?

Looking back on my interview experiences, I have made many mistakes which decreased my chances of getting the job. Your resume is just a representation of who you are on paper. Everything matters from your appearance, how you respond to questions, and even what type of paper you use for your resume. I know that resume paper is expensive, but plain white paper won't cut it. You should you use white or cream colored resume paper, not fancy colored paper with designs.

Tell Me About Yourself

. When the manager asks you this question, they aren't looking for random facts such as where you grew up, and how many pets you have. Managers want to know if you can do the work, will you do the work, and if you are cooperative. For example, they want to know about your skills, training, achievements, and your ability to learn quickly.

Be on Time but not too early

: "Avoid These 10 Interview Bloopers", suggests to arrive no more than ten minutes early. If you arrive more than ten minutes early, this gives the impression that you have too much time on your hands. Once I was late for an interview because my driver got lost. When I arrived, I was only able to fill out an application. It's a good idea to leave for the interview early to allow your enough time to get there in case you get lost or stuck in traffic. Also get thorough directions when you are called for the interview. I personally suggest making sure your clothes are ready the night before or make sure that you have adequate resumes, references, and other information you may need.

Dress Appropriately:

Do not wear bright colors and loud patterns. Wear business colors such as gray and navy blue.

Prepare Before the Interview

: In case the manager ask ,"what do you know about our company", do some research ahead of time. Make sure you several copies of your resume and a list of your references.

Send a Thank you Note:

After the interview make sure to send a thank you note immediately to the manager. This can make a good impression.
